Republican Congressional Challenger Wendy Rogers Raises $225,000 In First Six Months

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Wendy Rogers is flying to the front of the pack of Republican challengers to first-term Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-CD9), posting approximately $225,000 in contributions in the first six months of 2013.

Rogers is the first of the four formally-filed Republicans to post her second quarter finance report with the Federal Election Commission ("FEC"), and she more than doubled the cash she has on hand from March 31 to June 30; Rogers has $206,438.41 in the bank.

A good portion of that cash on hand, however, cannot be spent for the primary election battle; Rogers has received large ($5,200) donations from many individuals, and only half of that can be spent before the primary election (on August 26, 2014).  (Update: approximately $48,000 dedicated to general election)

Rogers will need the money.  Not only will the primary be hard fought, but first-term Rep. Sinema has the fundraising power of incumbency.  Although she has not yet filed her second quarter report, a media report indicates that she raised $400,000 in the quarter and has $550,000 cash on hand.

  1. Tired of seeing the same candidates continue to run and lose. Republicans need to get behind a native son and support Andrew Walter. CD9 isn't going to elect someone w/ no ties to ASU i.e. Wendy Rogers. Also, the GOP needs a candidate that can appeal to a wide demographic- Wendy is not that candidate.

  2. Thanks for commenting, Anon. But, why would you think that Lt. Col. (ret.) Rogers cannot appeal to a wide demographic whereas QB (ret.) Walter could?

  3. Couldn't agree more. Wendy has run twice and lost. She also has no ties to ASU which is at the heart of CD9. Thanks but no thanks Wendy.

  4. The gov't is taking your wages, taxing your property, monitoring your speech, tracking your location, restricting your travel, controlling your health care and now can assassinate you without charge or trial simply by calling you a terrorist. Who is going to stand up to this long established tyranny? Lincoln lost elections. The importance of ASU in determining who goes to congress is worse than pathetic. By the way, Wendy has a son who is getting his PhD from ASU. ???

And you concern yourself with elections lost and the glory of ASU whose president Crowe is a very high level CFR member - ASU a school that promotes a socialist/ globalist/Agenda21 agenda. Wendy's son is getting a PhD from ASU, I believe. Your lack of knowledge and judgment is shameful
