WATCH: Rep. Salmon In Thick of House's "Wild Day" Re: Border Issues; "Spirited (Floor) Discussion" With Rep. Gosar

Arizona Rep. Matt Salmon (R-CD5) was in the thick of things today in what he called "a wild day in the House".  The Republican-led House of Representatives twisted and turned today on how - and, whether - to deal with border issues.

This morning, Salmon was on Fox News to discuss what was expected in the House today.


As things continued to twist, Roll Call tweeted about Salmon's efforts trying to "whip" fellow Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar (R-CD4).

Salmon and Gosar now in a spirited discussion. Salmon has shut down. Not showing much interest in what Gosar has to say. Who's whipping who?

The morning session fell apart, and it appeared the House would go on a month-long recess without voting on a bill.  Then, the Republican leadership came back and announced a new session and meeting for tomorrow morning.  Salmon's statement:

“Today was a wild day in the House. To set the record straight, I am one hundred percent against doing nothing to fix our border crisis. While I believe that the Secure the Southwest Border Act of 2014 made a number of positive changes to secure our border and address this humanitarian crisis, there were some in our conference that wanted to craft a better, stronger bill. I support their efforts as well. We will continue to work to improve and bolster this bill, and I am committed to staying in Washington, D.C. until we approve a plan to secure our borders and help these children.”

Politico quoted him as saying he would be “willing to stay here ‘til the cows come home,” said Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.). “Use your metaphor — hell freezes over, cows come home.”
