BREAKING: Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Meeting Monday To Consider Next Steps In Melendres/Arpaio Racial Profiling Case

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors will be meeting in Executive Session on Monday to consider its next steps in the explosive racial-profiling case, Melendres v. Arpaio.  They may then take action in open session.

The August 29 (at 11:00am) Special Meeting comes on the heels of two orders from District Court Judge G. Murray Snow. The criminal contempt referral against Sheriff Joe Arpaio and three others received the most attention, and the Supervisors will likely be discussing what happens next on that angle.

The more likely focus of the discussion - and possible action - is the other order in which Snow set up the framework for a compensation fund for individuals who were stopped and detained by MCSO deputies in violation of the Court's previous injunction against racial profiling.  The County has been ordered to set up a $500,000 (to start) fund for compensation.
