READ: GOP Needles Rep. Sinema For Not Being On Stage With President; Sinema's Statement

Arizona Rep. Ed Pastor (D-CD7) was apparently the only Representative (out of the five Democrats) to accompany President Obama to his speech at an Ahwatukee high school today.  The National Republican Congressional Committee ("NRCC") anticipated this, putting out a release needling Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-CD9) - who represents the district in which the President spent his brief visit.

The NRCC (full post below) tried to make some hay out of the non-appearance of Sinema, and other swing district Democrats Ron Barber (D-CD2) and Ann Kirkpatrick (D-CD1), listing "6 Places Arizona Democrats Would Rather Be Than On Stage With President Obama".  The list included Washington, Rocky Point, and MSNBC.

Sinema did release a statement yesterday (text below the jump), saying she "hope(s) he will listen closely to what families in our community say and offer concrete and commonsense proposals to ensure families can realize the American dream of homeownership."  Her calendar was open.

Obama focused on homeownership today.

1. Washington

Arizona’s congressional Democrats feel right at home when voting to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House, defending ObamaCare, and standing in the way of balanced budgets.

2. Puerto PeƱasco or “Rocky Point”

What Arizonan doesn’t like heading to what’s affectionately nicknamed “Arizona’s Beach” during the triple digit temperatures? And what better time to hop in the car and head to Mexico when you can simultaneously avoid a photo op with President Obama? No cell phone service? No problem!

3. MSNBC Studios

She’s only been in office a few months, but you wouldn’t be far-off to think Kyrsten Sinema actually represented the MSNBC set in the halls of Congress. She’s certainly there enough.

4. Watching “The Smurfs 2”

No place better to hide than a dark, quiet movie theater, right? Grab some popcorn and Milk Duds and you’re good to go until Obama’s out of town.

5.  The Dentist’s Office

Need to schedule that root canal? The timing couldn’t be more perfect!

6. The Arizona MVD

When the other choice is standing on stage with President Obama, standing in endless lines and filling out countless forms at the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division sounds pretty good.

Sinema on Obama Ahwatukee Visit
Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement regarding President Obama's visit to Desert Vista High in Ahwatukee.  Obama is set to address local residents on the topic of homeownership.
''I am glad to see that President Obama recognizes the challenges Arizona homeowners face.  I hope he will listen closely to what families in our community say and offer concrete and commonsense proposals to ensure families can realize the American dream of homeownership.
"Homeowners in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Scottsdale and other communities across Arizona have weathered a tough storm since the collapse of the housing bubble and the significant stress to our national financial system.  Since then, too many hardworking families have lost their homes.
"The economy is now recovering, but for many families it has been too little, too late. We still struggle with high unemployment and slow growth in Arizona. More must be done to accelerate our economic recovery.
"Homeownership is critical to a secure economic future.  We must strengthen the middle class and renew our country's fiscal health so families can plan for long-term homeownership.  I'm working with both members of both parties, as well as local banks and local businesses, to help restore our economy and ensure that Arizona families enjoy a stable and secure future."
