BREAKING: Democratic Rep. Sinema Joins 142 Republicans Co-Sponsoring GOP Priority Bill Dismantling Portion Of Obamacare and Increasing Budget Deficit

As the House Republican leadership announced that the "Save American Workers Act" is one of its priorities for this week and the White House issued a veto promise, news came out that Arizona Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-CD9) is one of only 6 Democrats to co-sponsor the measure.

The measure would replace the 30 hr/week threshold for workers to be eligible for employer-based health insurance; it would redefine the full-time employee to work at least 40 hours.

141 GOP members - including Arizona Reps. Paul Gosar (R-CD4) and David Schweikert (R-CD6) - co-sponsored the measure put forward by Indiana Republican Todd Young.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office and Joint Committee on Taxation scored the bill today, and determined that it would increase the U.S. budget deficit by $71.3 Billion over the next 10 years, would push 500,000 to 1,000,000 people to Medicaid or to the individual-based health insurance marketplaces and increase the number of uninsured people by up to 500,000.

Citing the CBO/JCT report - while saying the President "appreciates the concerns that result from the current 30-hour definition of full-time work" - the Administration today issued a veto promise.

Arizona's Politics has contacted Rep. Sinema's office for more information, and will update as needed.
