The Senate just voted down another Republican-led amendment to the U.S.-Russia START Treaty, 32-60. Arizona Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain both voted for it. The Risch amendment would have added language to the preamble of the treaty tying in the "interrelationship" between tactical and non-tactical nuclear weapons. (An apparent additional dig at the preamble language noting the interrelationship between offensive and defensive weapons.)
Debate on the treaty will likely continue over the next few days.
