Arizona Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick's (D-CD1) re-election warchest now exceeds $1 Million, according to a release from her campaign. In one of the most competitive - and one of the most spread-out - districts in the nation, that (current) advantage over all of the Republicans seeking the nomination to oppose her could be significant.
Although her first quarter report is not yet available on the FEC's website, the release states that she raised $325,000 during the first three months of 2014. On December 31, she had $824K in the bank.
While the $1M bankroll is significant, the spending by the candidates to date - and, likely throughout the campaign - is going to be DWARFED by the amount spent on TV ads by outside groups. Already, outside groups are running ads practically matching that dollar figure, both supporting and hammering Kirkpatrick.
