Former Maricopa County Sheriff Arpaio tossed his hat in the ring earlier today, and said that he intends to serve as President Donald Trump's guy, if elected. McSally has been positioning herself more closely to the President since Flake announced that he would not seek re-election. Previously announced Kelli Ward has long been running for the Trump endorsement.
On the Democratic side, Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-CD9) is the heavy favorite for that party's nomination.
Here is the email that McSally sent out at 1:15pm (below jump):
Fellow Conservative,
It is my tremendous honor to serve the great people of Arizona’s Second District in Congress, and I’m proud of all we’re accomplishing together.
On the issues that matter most – from taxes to national security to fixing our nation's crumbling infrastructure – we are making great strides forward.
But there’s no question we have much more work to do. And this week, I will be making a major public announcement regarding my political future.
We have two big events scheduled this Friday, January 12th, in Tucson and Phoenix… and we’d love to have you join us!
