Syria To U.N. Re: McCain: "What Part of Illegal Don't You Understand?"; McCain: "Sad But Unsurprising Truth"

What part of "illegal" don't you understand, Senator John McCain? That could have been the subject line in the protest letter that the war-torn nation of Syria filed today with the United Nations.

Syrian President Bashar Assad's government accused the Arizona Senator of entering the country illegally when he visited in May 2013, and asked the UN to hold the United States responsible.  (Syria also accused three others of similar crimes.)

McCain met with Syrian opposition leaders on the trip, and used the opportunity to try to prompt the Obama Administration to be more actively involved.

In response to the letter, McCain said it is a "sad but unsurprising truth" that Syria's government is more concerned with his 2013 visit than "with its massacre of more than 200,000 men, women and children."

Memo to Syria: Complete the danged fence.
